J M CALVErlEY

J.M. Calverley, a contemporary author, has always had more stories in her head, than fingers for the keyboard. If she could type 500 words a minute, take steroids, and add another five days to the week, she’d be able to fit it all in.

She writes stories under other pen names but now has six crime novels set in her American home state of Hawai’i. J.M. or Meg to her friends, has always been an avid reader of murder mysteries and enjoys some romance thrown in as well. The whodunnit is fascinating. But it’s getting to know the characters inner workings as well—their vulnerabilities, emotions, and thoughts—this is what makes the story personal and real.

Meg hand-wrote and "published" her first book when she was eleven about her parent's separation. Constantly told as a child she had a vivid and (over) active imagination, the dawn of the computer era meant she could now take dictation at speed from the interesting characters galloping around her head.

She’s a bohemian and gypsy at heart, and loves to travel all over the world. Meg grew up in New Zealand, and after spending many years in the U.S., she's back there living in Christchurch. However, Kona and the Big Island of Hawai’i is still home as well. Being an islander is part of her soul, and from Aotearoa (New Zealand) to Hawai'i, encompassing the Polynesian Triangle, Vitamin Sea is always a much-needed part of her life. If she’s not close to the ocean, she becomes slightly unglued.
